Woolwich Acting Studio

The course is an introduction of Woolwich Acting Studio with support of artFix.

The 12 week class will cover introduction to acting and various acting techniques through improvisation and play. It’s a practical form of learning, however it will cover some theory too. 

About the course

The course level and content is flexible and will be designed to fit the group depending on the skills and abilities, and you will be able to learn the following:

– Rules of improvisation, introduction to Stanislavsky: environments, intentions, objectives

– Introduction to Meisner: action and reaction;

– Introduction to character building, blocking, introduction to text.

Each 2 hour session is structured: greeting/catch up, group warm up, practical learning, 15 min break, exercises/scenes and chat.

At the end of the course there will be an opportunity to perform a showcase of scenes in artFix cafe.

No previous acting training or experience required but equally the course is suitable for professional performers.
Please note: it will require movement, physical contact with fellow students, readiness to share some private and emotional experiences.

Bring water and loose clothing which allow movement. For comfort and safety, no shoes are worn in the class. 

                                   

About the tutor

Adam is a Polish-born, London based actor, director, dance dramaturg and designer. He trained in Stanislavsky, Chekhov, Meisner, Lecoq, mask, comedy, dramaturgy with teachers: Craig Snelling, John Wright, Helena Kaut-Howson, Clod Ensemble, Ivo Van Hove, Katie Mitchell, Guy Cools.

His collaborative piece with choreographer Maciej Kuzminski Room 40 won the prestigious Audience Award at Polish Dance Platform 2014. Adam has mentored and trained students of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and various private courses in London, including the Actors Gym.

He performed on stage, film and TV alongside such names as Sean Bean and most recently Joe Alwyn. His directing credits include: On Missing (Polish–Nigerian collaboration) for Voila! Europe Festival (Wretched Theatre) 2018, Si Vuelves Tu Old Red Lion 2017, Over the Borderline Old Red Lion  2017, Thaw The Vaults 2017, Schrodinger’s Cat Bread and Roses 2016, Sniper Arts Theatre West End 2016, Archipelago International tour 2016+, Difference and Repetition International Tour 2015+, Room 40 (Audience Award at Polish Dance Platform 2014) International Tour Dance theatre 2014+.

Adam is a member of Young Vic Directors’ Programme and Greenwich Cultural Forum.
